Neutralization

Too high or too low a pH-value of wastewater can be very harmful to the sewage system and to the functioning of the water purification plant. Thus, when the pH-value is not between set limits, it is important that the water is pre-processed before being led into the sewage. By neutralizing acidic and alkalic wastewater, the corrosion of the sewage system and the malfunctioning of the purification plant can be prevented. General standard values for the pH in wastewater are 6.0 as the bottom limit and 10.0 as the top limit. Local specifications can, however, differ from these and they should always be checked with the authorities responsible for sewerage and water purification.
