Infiltration systems
An Infiltration System is an underground wastewater processing system with a septic tank as the pre-processing unit. In the septic tank the components heavier and lighter than water are separated from the wastewater. From the septic tank the solid-free wastewater is led into the subsoil infiltration pipes. A biologically active layer forms in the soil, where the microorganisms decompose the main part of the organic matter in the wastewater. The cleaned wastewater infiltrates into the ground. A two-chamber septic tank is sufficient for processing the grey wastewaters, whereas a 3-chamber septic tank is designed to process all wastewaters. Labko SAKO Septic Tanks are designed according to the EN-12566-1 standard. Labko SAKO systems are ready-to-install packages for constructing a subsoil processing system. Labko SAKO-3 Infiltration System includes the septic tank and the infiltration pipes with filtration fabric. In many tanks there is an in-built, patented flow divider, which allows an equal flow into both infiltration pipelines. DeLuxe and Tripla models include a separate distribution well. When the distribution well is used, the subsoil processing system can be located further apart from the Labko SAKO tank, and the aligned position is not the only option to lay the infiltration pipes. This might be needed, e.g. when the soil beneath the building is not suitable for infiltration, or when the building stands on sloped terrain, and the infiltration pipes are aligned with the contours.
